Beauties of the Bluegrass Garden Tour

DSC08288cHere’s a note from Ann Bowe of  the Wild Ones, which is an organization dedicated to the use of native plants in the landscape.  She writes:

The Lexington Chapter of Wild Ones will host a garden tour on Sunday, June 30 2013, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Three native plant gardens in Lexington will be open to the public. Two of these are established gardens whose owners have worked for more than 10 years at growing native perennials, shrubs and trees. The third property, on Palomar Trace Drive, includes a rain garden and a microforest, which is a dense planting of young native trees and shrubs left to grow and mature in competition with each other, as would occur in a natural woodland. The gardens on the tour feature a great diversity of plants aimed at supporting wildlife and attracting pollinators; they are environmentally sustainable and visually appealing.

The owners will be available to talk about their gardens and answer questions about landscaping with native plants.

Admission is $5 per adult for all three gardens, and tickets are available at each garden site [children admitted free]. The tour can be entered at any of these addresses:
